Hand and Foot Warmer

Fill a small cotton bag with oats and sew shut.  When heated in the microwave you now have a cosy hand or foot warmer (heat for 1 minute and shake to distribute heat before placing on skin)!

Make 2 and add them to the inside of shoes before putting on on chilly morning dog walks (remembering to remove them before you head out of course)!

De-odorising Shoes

To de-odorise shoes, fill an old pair of socks with dried herbs – such as rosemary, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, orange peel, lemon peel, thyme, lavender, pine needles etc – tie a knot in the top of each sock and leave them inside the shoes before wearing.

Tired Eyes

For tired eyes, apply warm (not hot) chamomile tea bags to each eye. Take a warm bath and leave the bags on for 20 minutes.  You should see a noticeable difference when you remove them.

For a safe, stomach friendly diarrhea remedy mix 1-5 teaspoons of corn flour with half a glass of milk, add vanilla and/or sugar for flavour and take 3-5 times a day.

Arthritis Soother

As a natural easer for arthritic joints and hands, boil some large cabbage leaves, cool slightly and wrap tightly round the affected joints and wrap with a towel to keep the heat in.

A couple of slices of cucumber, straight from the fridge, is one of the best known and effective remedies for puffy eyes.  The cold temperature and active ingredients in the cucumber help to instantly soothe eyes and reduce puffiness caused by lack of sleep, sinus pressure or simply getting older!

If your muscles and stiff and sore after working out, add a cupful of white vinegar to your bath water, which will make for a relaxing and soothing soak.
