Treat for Dry Skin

Refreshing Face Mask

For a refreshing, wake up face mask, mix the pulp of one orange with 2 tsps of honey.  Apply to the skin and allow to sit for 20 minutes.  Rinse with clean, tepid water and enjoy your soft, velvet-like skin!

Pink Complexion

For pretty pink complexion, add lily and rose petals (dried or fresh) to a bowl of boiling water.  Allow to infuse and steep for 15 minutes.  Strain the water, allow to cool and use the water to wash your face and leave a healthy complexion.

Masks for Oily Skin

Oily skin types should use fruits as the base for their face masks, rather than cream or egg.  Use a mask of half milk and half strawberry juice, mixed with one egg white to lighten skin and open pores, encouraging the skin to release the oil so they may be wiped away.

In the absence of good quality beauty creams, application of dairy products will do more good than poor quality creams!  Use cows milk as a make-up remover and fresh whole cream as a nourishing moisturiser.

Yogurt Body Mask

Puree some cooked carrots or pumpkin in a blender and aim to end up with 3tsbp of puree.  Add to a bowl containing 60ml/2fl oz of natural, Greek style yoghurt and 3tbsp runny honey.  Combine thoroughly.  Run a warm, not hot bath, and slather your face and body with the mask.  Relax in the bath for 10-20 minutes and then rinse off in a warm shower.

Lavender Salt Scrub

In a large bowl blend together 150g/5oz coarse sea salt with 100h/3.5oz dried lavender and 25 drops of lavender essential oil.  Ensure the mixture is evenly distributed and transfer t an airtight jar (Kilner or similar).  Pour over 375ml/0.5pt sweet almond oil (or whatever oil you have available) and mix through.
Apply the salt scrub to your body and massage in to remove dry and dead skin cells.  Rinse with warm water and pat dry for velvety soft skin.

Coffee Ground Body Scrub

Brew a fresh pot of coffee – you can even drink a cup if you like!  Pout the coffee grounds (approx 3tbsp) in a bowl and add 1tbsp coarse sea salt.  Use the body scrub within 30 minutes of brewing for best results.
Use the body scrub in the shower to remove dead, dry skin and invigorate your body and mind.  Rinse well and moisturise if required.
